Today, Cosmic Aerospace is announcing the completion of the flight test campaign of its first demonstrator aircraft CX-1.
The test flights took place at a small airfield near Cosmic’s facility in Denver, Colorado.
The CX-1 test flights mark an important milestone for Cosmic Aerospace, as they represent the very first time the company’s proprietary embedded wing technology took to the skies. With CX-1, the team has successfully achieved several key goals, including the verification and validation of the stability and control characteristics of the configuration, the successful integration of the embedded wing technology and the successful integration and test of a fully autonomous flight control system. With the successful completion of the CX-1 flight test campaign, the company is now focused on developing its next demonstrator aircraft, CX-2. This new prototype will be about twice the size of CX-1, with increased power, more engines, and the ability to fly higher and faster. Cosmic will provide updates on CX-2’s progress as development continues.
The team has designed, built and tested CX-1 in a record time of less than a month. The vehicle has a wing-span of 2.5 m and features 10 embedded engines.
